Helping Heidrick & Struggles to the top
Heidrick & Struggles wanted to maintain its position as a top five global executive search and leadership advisory firm by reinforcing its brand with FTSE 100 chief executives.
We helped to increase visibility of the firm’s Board Practice Managing Partner, Steve Tappin, as he set out to write a book about the challenges of leadership. Gong arranged for him to be accompanied to meetings with Andrew Cave, former Daily Telegraph Associate City Editor. The purpose was to capture the substance of the dialogue between Tappin and his FTSE CEO clientele. We then negotiated exclusive full-page editorial pieces based on these interviews.
The interviews were published in a series called Chief Executives Uncovered in the Daily Telegraph. This led to a further 50 pieces of coverage in print, broadcast and online media outlets, including Today Programme, Sunday Times, CNBC Power Lunch, Reuters TV, City AM, Daily Telegraph, Sunday Telegraph, Management Today, The Guardian, International Herald Tribune, New York Times, Economist.com, Independent and Times online.
Meanwhile, extracts of the series were published in The Secrets of CEOs by Nicholas Brealey. The book achieved the number one spot in Amazon’s Business & Finance category in its first week of publication.
