The New Girl
As work experience draws to a close, I think back to all the activities and tasks I was given by my lovely colleagues here at Gong.
From following up with journalists regarding Economist Conference’s Bellwether event to Friday afternoons taken up with researching stories for the weekly news round-up, I feel I have truly been given an insight into the world of financial PR.
Throughout my time at Gong I was in charge of the ‘daily news round’. Every morning I would take to the local newsagent to collect the tabloids. Returning to the office, I would embark on reading through the newspapers to gather relevant articles. Given Gong’s broad clientele, this task was daunting at first. Bemused by what determines an ‘appropriate’ piece, the team were always at hand to encourage and assist me. Office ambiance definitely played a part in my enjoyment at Gong. The team that run this PR engine are always there to aid one another, tea and biscuits at hand.
Previous work experience for me had been in the corporate financial sector, and comparing the world of accountants to that of the more plugged-in PRs has been a real eye opener.
